Leadership Center

What We Believe

Taking our cue from TCU’s Mission Statement, the Leadership Center prepares individuals to become ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community by providing opportunities to create positive change…in themselves, on campus, in the community, and around the world.

What We Do

The objectives of the programs, seminars, and opportunities provided by the TCU Leadership Center are to help students:

Identify and describe multiple leadership techniques, theories, and models.
Articulate a coherent leadership style and philosophy.
Understand ethical-decision making processes.
Explore their competence with regards to the dimensions of difference and its impact on leadership processes.
Demonstrate application of leadership knowledge, skills, and talents in diverse settings.
Describe strategies to apply personal leadership style to facilitate positive change.

LeaderKids is a unique service based leadership opportunity for TCU students to act as mentors for 8th graders in the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD). By collaborating with Leadership Fort Worth and FWISD, TCU is able to bridge the gap in leadership development of 8th graders. Whether it is in monthly meetings with the 8th graders or through internship/training opportunities with Leadership Fort Worth and the TCU Leadership Center, students will be challenged to grow their knowledge and skills of leadership.

LeaderShape: Lone Star Institute is a week-long retreat hosted by TCU, SMU & Baylor. 20 students from each university explore what they want to do as leaders, and who they want to be through a vision grounded in their deepest values. LeaderShape can help you make the most of your time on campus as a leader and beyond graduation.

Global Leadership experiences focus on a practical approach to global citizenry by taking a group of students to an international destination. Students will expand their global perspective and reflect on their leadership skills by exploring the local culture and history through site visits, speakers and developmental workshops. Previous trips have focused on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion topics and the transition from college as a graduating senior.
