TCU Student Death

Dear Students and members of the Faculty and Staff,

It is with great sadness that I am writing to confirm the death of Jack Elliott, first year student from Newport Beach, CA.  Jack was boating with friends on Lake Travis during Fall Break when he fell from the boat and did not resurface.  Last night (October 29, 2019) his body was positively identified by the authorities in Travis County.

As a first year student, Jack was active in his pre-business curriculum, Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and was a resident of Sherley Hall.  He has a large group of friends from his home community that are also first year students at TCU.  Those who knew Jack know that he was really happy at TCU.  He had a lot of friends and felt that TCU was the place he was meant to be.

As is tradition, we will meet to honor Jack at Frog Fountain Monday, November 4, 7-8:30pm.  Community members are invited to come and go or come and stay, light a candle and reflect quietly or share a memory of Jack.  The waters of Frog Fountain will be silenced as we grieve this loss in our community and honor Jack’s contribution as a fellow Horned Frog.  Chaplaincy and Counseling Center staff members will be available.  Please direct your questions to faith@tcu.edu
